Coffee Talk Tokyo: A Fresh Brew of Stories, Coming Soon

Coffee Talk by Toge Productions first warmed our hearts in 2020 as a narrative barista simulator set in a fantastical, modern-day Seattle. Since then, we’ve shared epic, heartfelt tales with beloved characters—like the Satyr and Social media influencer Lucas and our favourite human journalist Freya—all while mastering the art of perfectly brewed lattes. The 2023 sequel, Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly, expanded the world with new faces, deeper stories, and even more cozy cafe vibes.

Now, in 2025, the series is serving up its third instalment: Coffee Talk Tokyo. This time, we’re leaving Seattle behind for the bustling, neon-lit streets of Tokyo, where humans and yokai mingle under the summer heat. With a fresh cast of characters, new drinks, and the same signature lo-fi charm, let’s get into everything we know about Coffee Talk Tokyo so far.

Update: Coffee Talk Tokyo will launch on March 5th 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 and PC.

New City, New Stories

Like its predecessors, Coffee Talk Tokyo lets you step into the shoes of a café owner, listening to customers’ struggles and dreams while crafting their perfect drink. But this time, the setting shifts to Tokyo—a city where ancient traditions meet futuristic energy, offering a whole new vibe.

Coffee Talk Tokyo once again places you behind the counter of a chill coffee shop. But while the feeling is familiar, the customers and their stories are new. As well as some of the drinks. Tokyo’s sweltering summer brings a refreshing twist to the Coffee Talk formula—unlike rainy Seattle, your customers will often crave chilled drinks to beat the heat. And we’ll get to meet a host of new yokai characters from Kappas to a ghost?.

But don’t worry, some things will still stay the same, including the composer behind the first two games’ soothing soundtracks. Andrew “AJ” Jeremy returns with more chill, atmospheric tunes perfect for late-night coffee brewing sessions. Hopefully with a Japanese twist.

Japanese Drinks Over Ice

If you’ve ever experienced Japan in Summer, you’ll know how hot it can get. This time, you’ll be making a bevvy of new ice drinks in which to charm the locals. As well as use the popular flavours that can be found in the region, such as hojicha and soy milk.

Enjoy the new addition of ‘Latte Art Stencils’, which will allow you to decorate your beverages with sprinkle stencils. Then personalise them with milk etching for that perfect touch.

Introducing Some Tokyo Locals

While the comforting atmosphere of the original Coffee Talk remains, the customers are entirely new, each with their own unique tales. Here are a couple that are coming to the game.

  • Kenji, a kappa salaryman, navigating life after retirement.
  • Vin, the barista’s assistant, dealing with the aftermath of a past disaster.
  • Ayame, a recently deceased socialite trying to understand her new afterlife.
