High Times Serves Up Dating Drama And Donuts As Therapy

Yangyang Mobile’s upcoming game is Good Pizza, Great Pizza meets Scott Pilgrim, but with more emotional baggage and sprinkles.

We’ve all had that moment where we wished we could just eat our feelings, and in High Times, you’ll be able to do just that. But in this game you’re not just consuming your emotions—you’re serving them in pastry form. High Times is a dating/cooking sim hybrid that’s equal parts cozy café management, narrative journey and navigating the minefield that is your romantic history.

Manage your own cafe and become a donut therapist in this cozy dating/cooking sim. Cook mood-changing donuts, decorate your shop, and help customers navigate life, love, and heartbreak—one bite at a time.

Mark your calendars and preheat your ovens because High Times releases on July 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. There’s a demo available right now on Steam if you want to get a taste of the chaos before the full release. Trust me, you’ll want to.

The Flavour of the Game

In High Times, you play the role of a “mood confectioner” at The Hotbox, a shop specialising in donuts infused with, shall we say, mood-enhancing properties.

Each flavour corresponds to an emotion—think patience, sincerity, nostalgia, courage, cheer, and more. Your customers will walk in with problems: heartbreak, existential dread, or maybe just a case of the Mondays. They might not even know what they want. It’s your job to listen, decode their emotional state, and serve them a donut that will literally change how they feel. Diagnose emotional needs and prescribe pastries.

It’s not about just making a snack; it’s about Donut Therapy. What customers say and how they react to you depends entirely on the mood you serve them. So, do you cheer them up, or give them a dose of bitter nostalgia? Your call.

The Gameplay Loop (Without the Sprinkles)

The cooking mechanics are more involved than just clicking a button. You’ll prep dough, cut shapes, fry them up, and apply glazes that actually eat into your profit margin if you’re too heavy-handed. It’s reminiscent of the tactile satisfaction of Papa’s Donuteria or the order management of Good Pizza, Great Pizza.

As you build your business, you’ll collect tips, unlock new tools, and discover over 100 store decorations to make The Hotbox feel like your own.

While you’re busy solving everyone else’s problems, you have some of your own. The game is described as a “reverse dating” or “closure” sim, and it wears that badge proudly. Why? Because your exes are back in town. And they’re not just haunting your social media—they’re your customers.

You’ve ghosted them, broken their hearts, and now they’re sitting at your counter, waiting for a donut and an explanation. Too bad “closure” isn’t on the flavour wheel.

Mending Fences (Or Lighting Them on Fire)

You’ll interact with over 30 unique customers, six of whom are romanceable (or in this case, re-romanceable). The choices you make—both in dialogue and in the donuts you serve—have consequences. Customers remember what you say, and each major character has between 2 to 3 possible endings. Will you rekindle an old flame, remain platonic friends, or crash and burn spectacularly? The game has routes for good romance, good friendship, or bad outcomes.

And the cast is a colourful batch of misfits: from a “mommy lover” to a girl in a chicken suit, and even a badass duck with a knife. It gives off major Scott Pilgrim energy where every side character feels like they have their own chaotic story.

Voice Acting & Presentation

If you’re going to be making emotional decisions in a visual novel, it helps if the characters feel alive. High Times features full English voice acting, including heavy hitters like Johnny Yong Bosch and LilyPichu .

The story unfolds through 70+ animated comic-book-style illustrations that give it a dynamic, punchy feel. Add in a mix of grunge and lo-fi soundtracks, and you’ve got a vibe that’s equal parts relaxing and dramatic—perfect for crying into a donut.

High Times

High Times is hitting just the right sweet spot between cozy management sim and narrative-heavy visual novel. It’s cheeky, irreverent, and surprisingly deep for a game where the main mechanic is “manipulating emotions through fried dough.” It’s built for anyone who’s ever thought, “Maybe I can fix them with a pastry.” Just remember: with great donuts comes great responsibility. And a chance to get back with your ex. Use your glaze wisely.
