Boba Quest is a multiplayer café adventure where you and your friends build, customise, and run a bubble tea shop together in a universe made of pure drink-inspired whimsy.
Developed by Viridian Studios Inc. for PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 with a target release of Spring 2027, Boba Quest blends café management with exploration, farming, and creature collecting. You’ll recruit adorable ingredient-based companions called Boba Buddies, venture through diverse worlds to discover rare recipes, and serve a rotating cast of customers from across the Bobaverse. And yes, you can do it all with friends in tow.
Boba Quest recently blew past its Kickstarter goal of USD $20,000 and is currently sitting at over USD $74,000, with the campaign running until April 11. Here’s what’s brewing.
Your Café, Your Flavour Profile

Every good boba starts with a base, and yours is the café itself. You’ll be able to customise your cafe with everything from its decor to the menu. Paint the walls. Pick a name that’ll stick in customers’ minds. Curate a menu that reflects your taste—or deliberately confuses everyone who walks in. The game hands you the cup. You fill it with whatever weird and wonderful combination you want.
Find blueprints scattered across the Bobaverse that let you change your shop’s layout and structure. Then comes the fun part: making it yours. And because the Bobaverse is full of travellers from all over, your customer base is as varied as a topping menu. Some want classic milk tea. Others are hunting for something they’ve never tasted before. It’s your job to figure out who wants what and keep them coming back for refills.

From Farm To Cup

Keep your ingredients and supply chain right at home with a literal farm-to-table cafe. With your handy farm right upstairs, you’ll be able to have access to the best tea and freshest homegrown ingredients.
As your menu expands, so does your rooftop garden. New drinks mean new ingredients, which means new things to grow. So make sure to explore and find new ingredients as well as visit new towns to learn and be inspired by new flavours and recipes. Is a taro-caramel-matcha boba something you’d want to serve?
Go Foraging. Bring Back the Good Stuff.

The Bobaverse is full of towns and regions with their own flavours and quirks. Want to add something rare to your menu? You’ll need to find it first. Maybe that means fishing for Crystal Jelly in a pond that glows like a nightlight. Maybe it means trading with a traveller from a faraway town. Either way, exploring feeds directly back into your café—new recipes, new ingredients, new reasons to fire up the tea brewer.
And yes, there are quests. Nothing too heavy. Just enough structure to give your wandering a purpose.
Boba Buddies: The Best Employees You’ll Ever Hire

You can’t run a café alone. Well, you can, but why would you when you could recruit Boba Buddies instead?
These are ingredient-based companions you discover while exploring. They’re adorable in that slightly ridiculous way that makes you immediately want to collect them all. Meet a few:
- Atlas the Thai Tea Fox: Sly, sweet, and probably judging your drink ratios.
- Howl: The flying owl coffee bean.
- Chickberry: Half chicken, half blueberry. Fully confusing. Fully charming.
- Frogge: A banana-flavoured frog that claims that they’re the Boba King from Planet Boba. Who are we to argue?
- Taroyaki and Matchayaki: Taiyaki Dragons in taro and matcha flavours. They’re pastries. They’re dragons. They’re perfect.
Beyond the cute factor, they actually help. Some automate tasks. Others boost your café’s efficiency with their distinct abilities. And a few just stand there looking great, which honestly has its own value. You decide which ones earn a spot behind the counter.
Play Your Way, With Friends or Without

Boba Quest works whether you’re flying solo or dragging friends along for the ride. Cozy mode lets you farm, craft, and decorate at your own pace. Competitive modes exist if you and your friends want to see who can run the tightest ship.
And when you want company, friends can visit. They’ll wander into your café, check out your Boba Buddies, steal menu ideas, and maybe judge your wallpaper choices. It’s social without being demanding—the gaming equivalent of sitting quietly with someone over a shared drink.
Kickstarter Update: Still Brewing, Still Growing

Boba Quest hit its initial Kickstarter goal of USD $20,000 faster than a tapioca pearl sinks to the bottom of a cup. As of now, it’s sitting comfortably past USD $74,000 with the campaign running until April 11. Stretch goals are popping, and development is moving right along.
If you want to secure early rewards or just keep tabs on progress, the campaign is worth a visit. The full game is aiming for a Spring 2027 release on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch 1 & 2.
