Put on your coats and gloves because we’re ready to embark on a journey into the heart of the Arctic. IKUMA – The Frozen Compass is a coming-of-age narrative journey that follows a boy and his dog as they try to survive the harsh Arctic climate to make their way home. Along the way, you’ll need to climb, fish, gather resources and uncover an ancient Inuit mystery. All with your faithful companion, which can be played by your favourite Player 2.
Mooneye Studios, the creators behind the acclaimed Lost Ember, Farewell North and Haven Park, are preparing to launch their next narrative experience, IKUMA – The Frozen Compass, sometime next year.
A Story of Survival and Self-Discovery
Set in 1864, the game strands a teenage boy named Sam and his loyal husky, Ellie, on an uncharted Arctic island. Their immediate struggle is against the brutal, unforgiving environment. But a deeper mystery lurks beneath the ice—the remnants of a lost expedition, shrouded in fog and whispered about in ancient Inuit legends.
As you explore breathtaking landscapes—from vast glaciers to caverns and forgotten ships trapped in the ice—you’ll piece together the clues of the lost expedition. Be warned: something lurks within the fog.

To find a way home, Sam must not only brave the elements but also retrace the steps of those who came before him, uncovering a cursed fate buried deep in the ice. This is a coming-of-age story where survival is intertwined with making peace with the past and discovering who you were always meant to be.
Survival, Teamwork, and Discovery

IKUMA is a narrative adventure at its core, but it focuses on the theme of teamwork and friendship. Play as either Sam or Ellie and use their unique skills to survive. Sam is your resourceful human—he can climb, fish, gather supplies, and use tools to overcome obstacles. Ellie, with her keen canine senses, can track scents, navigate through white-out conditions, and access areas Sam can’t.
Survival is a constant concern. You’ll manage limited supplies, forage for food, and use scavenged tools to traverse the treacherous landscape. Whether it’s using a pickaxe to scale an icy cliff or crafting a fishing rod to secure your next meal.

IKUMA has been designed for co-op play, but if you want, you can choose to play on your own and switch between the characters.
