Hubert The Shepherd Dog And His Good Boy Adventure

Step Into The Paws of A Very Good Boy

Hubert is an upcoming indie adventure game from Brocap Studio that puts you in the paws of a working shepherd dog. Herd sheep, track scents, and protect your flock from wolves. The demo is available now on Steam.

Play as a working shepherd dog protecting his flock and the only human who trusts him. As wolves draw closer, you must face the growing divide between the world you serve and the wild that calls to you. Herd sheep, track scents, and guard the farm across rugged northern lands.

Hubert was awarded “Best Game” at the Game Access Conference 2026 and has over 30,000 wishlists on Steam. There is so far no release date yet, but it is expected to release on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Here’s everything to know about this doggone adventure.

Gameplay: The Sheepdog and The Sheep

It’s a hard day’s work herding dozens of “mildly chaotic sheep” across rugged pastures, but some dogs gotta do it. Step into the paws of Hubert, a fluffy, overconfident shepherd dog with a nose for trouble. He takes his job seriously—even if the sheep have the attention span of a goldfish and the farmer has zero patience.

These aren’t obedient, follow-the-leader types. Your job is a constant exercise in applied chaos theory: circling, barking, nudging, and re-routing strays while trying to keep the group cohesive. Hubert’s herding mechanics are built around scent tracking, flock management, and terrain navigation. You’ll use dog abilities to circle strays, bark commands, and anticipate wolf threats. The demo gives players a solid taste of this dynamic system, which evolves as the flock AI responds to your presence.

Sheep are both friend and enemy—you’re protecting them, but they seem deadset on misbehaving and getting into trouble. Unfortunately, using “Ba Ram You” didn’t work. Paws up if you understood that dated reference.

But you won’t be doing this alone. Huberts‘s got a partner in Lily, a sharp-witted kid who convinced the grumpiest farmer in the valley to give them both a job. Their bond is the emotional core of the game, built through “shared routines, small moments, and quiet trust”. As the world around them changes, that bond is tested in subtle ways, shaping how Hubert sees the world and why he keeps going.

The Wild Calls

While farm life is the focus, something calls to Hubert out in the woods. Something is out there. It is not just a threat, but a call Hubert understands in ways he cannot fully explain. Beyond the fence line, the land grows quieter and stranger.

This is where the game’s unique perspective shines. As a dog, you experience the world through movement, scent, and instinct. You’ll track scents, uncover secrets, and navigate the world at ground level, discovering a narrative shaped by atmosphere and exploration rather than just cutscenes.

Spend your days tracking scent trails, reacting to the unpredictable behaviour of your flock, and using your doggy abilities to navigate the environment. It’s an “intuitive” design that aims to make you feel like a dog, where the world is a rich tapestry of smells and sounds that you interpret.

Hubert

Hubert is shaping up to be a special experience. It’s a game that respects its protagonist by making him a capable worker with a real job to do. It grounds its story in a believable bond between a dog and a kid. And it’s got just enough mystery to make you wonder what’s really out there in those woods.

If you’re looking for a game that’s thoughtful, unique, and lets you be a very good boy, keep Hubert on your radar. Just don’t blame us if you start barking at sheep in your dreams.
