Welcome to Heartopia, a serene multiplayer life simulation game where creativity flows freely, peaceful days unfold at your own pace, and warm friendships bloom. Here, you can build your dream home, dive into a variety of fulfilling hobbies, and connect with a vibrant community in a town brimming with charm and endless possibilities. Among these cherished pastimes, fishing is one of the core hobbies that you can use to generate Gold or use in Cooking.
This is your complete guide to fishing in Heartopia. We’ll show you how to unlock fishing, master the mechanics, and find every rare fish. Learn to adapt to changing weather, upgrade your gear, and turn your daily catch into serious profit. Let’s get started.
How to Unlock Fishing in Heartopia

Fishing becomes available very early in your Heartopia journey. During the tutorial, you’ll meet Vanya, the cheerful Fishing Hobby Mentor. After she visits your home and explains the basics, she’ll give you your first fishing rod. You’ll also receive a Hobby Expansion Ticket to permanently unlock the Fishing hobby. From that moment, you’re free to fish anywhere you find water. Later, you can learn advanced saltwater techniques from Bill in the Fishing Village.
How to Fish

- Equip Your Rod: Open your inventory and select your fishing rod.
- Find a Spot: Approach any body of water. Look for fish shadows or ripples for the best chances, though you can cast into open water.
- Cast Your Line: Press the interaction button (tap on mobile, click on PC).
- Wait for a Bite: Watch the bobber. A successful bite is signalled by an exclamation mark (!) or the bobber sinking.
- Reel It In: Press the interaction button immediately. For rarer, tougher fish, you’ll need to manage an on-screen tension bar—reel when it’s green, ease off when it turns red to prevent your line from snapping.
- Advanced Technique: If a fish isn’t biting, try using Bait to attract them. You can also hold the cast button for a precision cast to land your line closer to a specific fish shadow.
Fishing Equipment
Fishing Rods
Your rod is your most important tool. Better rods increase your “catch bar” size and casting distance.
- Starter Rod: Given by Vanya during the tutorial.
- Upgraded Rods: Unlocked as your Fishing Level increases. These are essential for reeling in elusive fish like the Golden Carp. The Fishing Expert achievement (catch 100 fish) rewards a top-tier rod.
Bait
While not mandatory, bait is highly recommended to improve fishing efficiency
- Effect: Reduces wait time for a bite and can target specific fish rarities.
- Sources: Craft it, purchase it from Bill, or earn it as a quest reward.
- Advanced Tools: As you level up, you can purchase Fish Attractors and Mermaid Perfume from Vanya to dramatically improve your efficiency.
The Fishing Level System
You gain XP for every fish caught. Levelling up unlocks skills and tools:
- Fishing Rod Maintenance: Increases your rod’s durability.
- Fish Quality: Raises the odds of catching higher star-rating fish.
- Fish Playing: Makes your fishing line stronger, helping you land tougher catches.
- New Fish Varieties: Access to rare and valuable species.
- Achievement Reward: Catching 100 fish grants the Fishing Expert achievement, awarding an advanced rod and the Fishing Hut blueprint.
